Afi Harrington

Dr. Harrington has exemplary educational qualifications and several years of professional experience in her field. She has a B.S. in Mathematics from Spelman College, and an M.O.R. and Ph.D. in Operations Research from North Carolina State University. Her professional experience includes service as a Mathematician for the Department of Defense, an Operations Research Analyst at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and a Research Analyst at the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA).

Dr. Harrington is an experienced operations research analyst with a record of exceptional performance. She is skilled at applying analytical techniques to analyze and improve business processes and systems. She has vast experience serving as both a project director and a lead analyst on a wide variety of projects. As a project director, she exhibits strong leadership and interpersonal skills. As a lead analyst, she ensures an impeccable level of quality, accuracy, and timeliness for every assignment.

In her professional career, Dr. Harrington has had a wide range of project experiences. As a CNA analyst, she led an evaluation of the US Coast Guard procurement organization employing data envelopment analysis to compare procurement offices based on personnel and workload. She was able to benchmark their organization against other government agencies and make recommendations regarding the organizational structure. For the Navy, she developed a large scale model to allocate Navy medical providers to Navy hospitals and clinics and analyzed the Navy productive ratio effort, Navy support for ships during availabilities, and Navy ship readiness metrics. At the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Dr. Harrington developed SAS programs to process and analyze data from the EEOC national database. Her work with this database included creating automated routines to sort and filter the data and statistical forecasting of EEOC discrimination charges by office, region, and nationwide. As a Department of Defense analyst, Dr. Harrington performed risk assessments and identified, developed, and implemented decision analysis tools for various customers.

Dr. Harrington is an excellent communicator, proficient at presenting technical material to non-technical audiences and fostering positive relationships with clients and colleagues. She has the proven ability to handle multiple assignments while maintaining a high level of quality in her work. Her flexibility enables her to work well on a team or autonomously. Additionally, she is a fast learner with the ability to quickly master new techniques and computer applications.
